Maverick County filed an answer to Tomas Herrera’s Writ of Mandamus on Friday June 2, 2017 at the Maverick County 293rd Judicial District Court.  

On May 22, 2017 Judicial District Judge Cynthia L. Muniz issued an official letter of Formal Voluntary Recusal on the Tomas S. Herrera v. Maverick County legal proceedings, handing the issue over to the Fourth Administrative Judicial Region of Texas to proceed with an order of assignment on the matter.

Former Maverick County Sheriff Tomas Herrera has filed a Writ of Mandamus Petition at the Maverick County District Court against the County to compel the release of public information which he had requested under a Texas Public Information Act request back in 2016.
